Sneha Patel, planner in the Office of Policy and Planning, reviewed the report's structure and key themes: the departmental reorganization into the San Francisco Health Network and the Population Health Division; the launch of an African American Health Initiative focused on heart health, behavioral health, women's health and perinatal outcomes; completion of population health strategic planning required for public health accreditation; and network performance and patient demographics.
Patel cited that more than 73,000 San Franciscans had enrolled in health insurance by the end of FY13'14 and that DPH'affiliated primary care centers served nearly 70,000 patients. The report also noted progress in the San Francisco General rebuild and the implementation of tobacco'free policy at Laguna Honda.
Commissioners commended the document and asked for final corrections; staff said printed copies will be sent to the mayor and board of supervisors and uploaded for public access.
