Union and public raise alarm about SFHSS staffing shortage and possible call-center outsourcing

Fred Sanchez, president of Protect Our Benefits, also raised staffing-related concerns tied to public-safety stress and access to member services, saying long hiring timelines and heavy overtime for first responders were harming morale and service. Sanchez urged board attention to the mental-health issues that accompany staffing strain.
Board members acknowledged the comments, thanked speakers, and said staff would follow up. The public testimony did not produce immediate votes or decisions on outsourcing; it was entered into the meeting record and commissioners signaled a desire for further review and possible future agenda items.
