The San Francisco Health Service Board approved Kaiser Permanente's proposed renewal rates for the 2018 plan year and accepted a modest member contribution change noted by the actuary. The board also accepted a benefit enhancement: Kaiser will cover an additional in‑vitro fertilization (IVF) cycle (increase from one to two lifetime cycles) under the plan.
Aon Hewitt presented the renewal and said Kaiser's offer included a 5 percent corridor risk‑sharing structure as a possible optional arrangement; the board approved current rates and directed staff and the actuary to vet a formal risk‑sharing option and return with analysis by August. The board motion accepted the actuary's recommendation, and the vote passed.
