Rosemary Pasentino presented a proposed HSS wellness brand, Stay Strong, Live Long, saying a clear, consistent brand would raise awareness and aid peer‑to‑peer promotion of wellness activities. Pasentino described prior informal testing at department wellness fairs, a ServiceMark filing and favorable anecdotal responses, including from a union representative who said the slogan was "the kind of slogan I can put on a t‑shirt."
Pasentino acknowledged criticisms — some board members and commenters said the word "strong" could be read narrowly as physical strength and others noted similarity to the Livestrong charity — and defended a broader definition that includes resilience and commitment. Commissioners and public commenters suggested surveying members, proposing alternatives (for example, "Stay Healthy, Live Long" or language centered on "well‑being") and adding practical website content such as weight training programs and stretching routines.
Because Commissioner Dodd requested additional input, the Board did not finalize the brand and asked staff to return with further outreach results and any recommended edits before taking action.
