The San Francisco Health Service Board took several formal actions during its January meeting and recorded unanimous votes on routine governance and administrative items.
On Item 6, the board approved a membership‑rules change and cafeteria plan update to permit a flexible spending account carryover of up to $500 for the 2013 plan year. The motion passed with no opposing votes.
On Item 8, the board adopted a resolution ordering the 2014 Health Service Board election for two expiring terms (President Breslin and Commissioner Frigno), set a nominations window and election calendar, and authorized staff to proceed with election administration. The resolution passed unanimously.
Separately, following an extended presentation by Aon Hewitt and Kaiser, the board voted unanimously to direct its actuary to analyze three funding models (fully insured, FlexFunded, and self‑funded) for the 2015 renewal cycle; the analyses will be presented ahead of April/May pricing meetings. Staff said actuarial work will use up to 36 months of utilization data through the end of 2013.
Staff requested a continuance on the healthcare sustainability budget plan after identifying a math error; the board agreed and will consider the corrected materials at a future meeting. The board adjourned after concluding public comment and future‑agenda items.
