Presenters described the Center’s conversion from a 1947 commercial building into a cultural hub in 1977, the creation of Mission Graphica and rehearsal/gallery spaces, and a 1982 exterior mural identified as the building’s principal character‑defining feature.
Commissioners praised the nomination and presenters, and asked staff and nominators to add stronger visual documentation identifying community leaders and the murals in the nomination materials to ensure the nomination ‘puts faces to the story.’ The commission voted unanimously to recommend the National Register nomination to the State, subject to staff’s requested revisions.
