SAN FRANCISCO ' Before the day's agenda items, speakers used the general public-comment period to press the commission on two separate preservation-related concerns.
Woody Labonte of San Francisco Heritage said the city's legacy-business program faces a backlog of about five months for applications and asked commissioners to urge the Office of Small Business to allocate more staff resources.
Marcelo Cajavallo of the Mission District presented photographs and described what he called widespread removal and damage of historic granite curbs placed more than a century ago. Cajavallo suggested the damage was caused by either the Department of Public Works or licensed private contractors and requested that the commission place the matter on a future agenda under code section 54,954.2. A commissioner indicated they would refer the matter for further discussion.
Neither comment resulted in formal action at the hearing, but both items were recorded in the meeting record for potential follow-up.
