Historic Preservation Fund Committee reports completed projects and roughly $300,000 remaining for new grants

Cherney said three projects were completed with committee funding: the People's Palace documentary on the history of City Hall, a condition assessment of the Mother's Building at the San Francisco Zoo (a severely endangered landmark), and the San Francisco African American Citywide Historic Context Statement (received earlier and revised with Planning Department input). He said the committee provided supplemental funding to expand the Sacred Heart Church complex study to include four buildings and to prepare a National Register nomination for the complex, and that the committee approved a historic-context statement project on the Great Depression and New Deal era focusing on architecture and art.
Cherney noted the committee's remaining balance was about $300,000 and reported continued oversight of eight priority items; six of the top eight have either been funded or have active proposals. He said the committee will begin to consider further priorities as funds are expended and will circulate a written report to commissioners.
