Planning Department staff presented several staff‑report items to the Historic Preservation Commission on Jan. 6. Tim Frey said staff is preparing a joint brief with MTA for an appeal of the Van Ness Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) certificate of appropriateness; that Board of Appeals hearing is scheduled for Jan. 13 and staff will report back at a subsequent HPC hearing. Staff also reported the Board of Supervisors had adopted and recorded three Mills Act contracts last year, which will affect the assessor's records for those properties.
Staff attended a bidders conference for an RFP to identify a lead community partner for the Old Mint adaptive‑reuse effort; the RFP closes in early February and staff said they will serve on the selection panel. Finally, staff said an analysis of mural condition at the Mother's Building is complete and staff will schedule an informational presentation with Rec and Park for the commission, as well as gather information on proposals for the Palace of Fine Arts.
