Planning staff outlines outreach for Affordable Housing Bonus Program; mayor reconvenes housing task force

Planning Department staff told the Historic Preservation Commission on Jan. 6 that the department is preparing public meetings in each supervisorial district to gather feedback on the Affordable Housing Bonus Program and will bring the program forward to the Planning Commission in January for further action. The department characterized the program as a substantial tool intended to increase affordable housing production in the city.
The director said Mayor had reassembled the earlier housing task force that worked on Proposition C and the Housing Trust Fund. The director will chair a subgroup focused on process improvements and project‑pipeline status; Olsen Lee of the Mayor’s Office of Housing will chair a separate working group to review the economics and inclusionary requirements, including whether the inclusionary percentage should be raised from its current level.
