Parks outlined pending items expected in the next six months, including the second hearing for University Mound Old Ladies Home and designations or initiations for several properties (Board Out building, Ingleside Presbyterian Church and its interior mural, Peace Pagoda and Plaza, Sailors Union) and noted ongoing survey work, context statements (African American and LGBTQ historic contexts), and staff performance measures. Parks said the department is tracking staff hours and that Swedish American Hall exceeded the 150-hour target and reached 265 staff hours.
Commission discussion and prioritization: Commissioners thanked staff and discussed prioritization criteria, including the concept of “threatened” resources. Commissioner Haase asked about the Sunshine School timeline; other commissioners suggested bringing Rec and Park and ARG to update the Commission on the Mother’s Building at the San Francisco Zoo given recent deterioration of related resources. Tim Frey noted the Central SoMa survey work connected to the Central SoMa Area Plan and warned the Commission to expect a bundled set of 30–35 properties for initiation once environmental studies conclude.
Outcome and next steps: Commissioners asked staff to coordinate informational presentations where helpful (for example, Rec and Park on the Mother’s Building) and to continue quarterly reporting. The Commission expressed general appreciation for staff’s progress on designations and survey work.
