Commissioner Matsuda and others said a preparatory letter could narrow issues and clarify misinformation ahead of a multi‑agency meeting; commissioners agreed and a motion to authorize the Commission President to draft and sign the letter and schedule a follow-up meeting passed unanimously, 6 to 0.
Portions of the discussion stressed that multiple city agencies hold pieces of responsibility — for example, MTA was identified as owning the parking lot, Park and Rec as owning the pagoda/plaza and DPW owning utilities — and that a convening would help align expectations before any formal designation action is pursued.
