During general public comment at the Feb. 18 hearing, Larissa Pedrin Shelly asked the Historic Preservation Commission to direct new information on 235 Valencia Street to Planning Department staff and to consider the building for landmark status.
Shelly said she and a partner had compiled new material about former owner Hap Jones, describing him as a “pioneer of motorcycle racing and culture in San Francisco” and noting national recognition including an induction to the American Motorcycle Hall of Fame. She asked staff to review whether the new documentation affects the property’s status and to consider landmark nomination under criteria 1 and 2 of the California Register.
The Commission thanked the speaker and staff accepted the materials for consideration.
