Staff outlines landmark designation work program and Article 10 application

Susan Parks (survey team) reviewed projects completed and pending: the commission recently transmitted recommendations for two designations (Group Goldberg Building and a change of designation for 149 Ninth Street) and staff expects to initiate hearings on Swedish American Hall (returning March 18), Peace Pagoda and Plaza (April 15), Lick Old Ladies Home (May 6), Sailors Union of the Pacific, the Burdett Building, and Ingleside Presbyterian Church in the following months. Staff also reported that the Ocean Avenue Historic Resources Project is on temporary hold due to staffing.
Parks described performance measures that track preparation of designation reports and applications and said planning staff will post an editable Article 10/11 designation application online and make it available at the public information counter by the end of the week. Commissioners praised the clarity and utility of the application and suggested flexible guidance for members of the public unfamiliar with technical fields. The meeting adjourned following the presentation.
