San Francisco Architectural Heritage told the Historic Preservation Commission it supports three contracts under the Mills Act and planning staff provided a brief overview of those items. Committee member Supervisor Avalos questioned whether the properties applying for Mills Act benefits this year were "truly in need of a property tax break," prompting further discussion.
Following that exchange the committee decided to forward the three contracts to the full Board of Supervisors without a recommendation. Planning staff said they will present evidence to the full Board in the coming weeks and keep sponsors and stakeholders informed.
The committee did not take a final action to grant Mills Act terms; instead the matter will be considered at a future Board meeting.
