The San Francisco Homelessness and Oversight Commission approved a set of contract and grant actions during its consent and action agenda. HSH staff presented five grants selected through a NOFA to modernize elevators in supportive‑housing SROs; the awarded projects and amounts include Crosby Hotel ($1,104,189), Mentone Hotel ($973,943), Elm Hotel ($980,839), Hillsdale Hotel ($1,017,789) and Coronado Hotel ($1,134,924). HSH said award selection prioritized city‑funded nonprofit master‑leased PSH buildings with private owners who agreed to contribute to project costs and extend master‑lease terms for a minimum of five years.
Separately, the commission approved an 18‑month grant with the San Francisco Community Health Center to operate an "Ending Transgender Homelessness" urgent accommodation voucher program. The new program, funded entirely from the general fund, carries a budget of $1,138,872 plus a 20% contingency for a total not‑to‑exceed amount of $1,366,646; it will provide short‑term hotel stays (up to 14 days), food, transportation and case management for an estimated 8–10 TGNCI (transgender, gender nonconforming and intersex) adults at a time.
Roll‑call votes recorded unanimous 'Aye' votes from present commissioners on the grant packages and consent calendar items; staff noted that several contract approvals needed to proceed at this meeting so funds could be released.
Commissioners and staff said HSH will continue monitoring award implementation and that owner contributions and master‑lease commitments are conditions of the elevator modernization awards.
