The San Francisco Local Agency Formation Commission on May 18 approved its final fiscal year 2018–19 budget and added a line item of $24,342 to reserve funds for special studies and professional services.
Executive Director Bridal Gobel presented LAFCO’s expenditure status and proposed the final budget, noting available balances on community choice aggregation work orders and the general fund. In his presentation Gobel referred to a recommended budget figure during remarks; commissioners then discussed reserving the available balance for anticipated studies (including possible work on a municipal bank and public broadband) rather than returning the sum to the city and county general fund.
Commissioner Hillary Ronan moved to approve the budget as amended to include a line item for special studies and expert input, and Commissioner Cynthia Pollock seconded. The Clerk restated the motion as approval of the final FY 2018–19 budget for the full amount received from the city and county of San Francisco ($297,342) with a $24,342 line item for special studies. Chair Sandra Lee Feuer called the motion passed without objection.
The motion included a direction to the executive officer to work with the Clerk of the Board to ensure appropriate budgeting language and to carry forward funds if not spent. No roll‑call vote record with individual member votes appears in the transcript; the motion passed on a voice consent noted by the chair and clerk.
