The Local Agency Formation Commission appointed Isaac Sevier to its public member seat on July 19 by unanimous roll call.
Sevier introduced themself to commissioners, saying they have lived in San Francisco since 2012, represent District 2, use they/them pronouns, and work as a policy researcher with prior experience as a petroleum engineer. They described community and professional work on public banking, green retrofits of low‑income housing and research on decommissioning natural‑gas infrastructure.
Commissioners praised Sevier’s background. Commissioner Dean Preston said he was “one of the most vocal” on appointments when qualifications are lacking and called Sevier "the polar opposite," praising the applicant’s qualifications and experience. Vice Chair Hope Williams and Chair Hillary Ronan also welcomed Sevier.
Chair Ronan moved to appoint Isaac Sevier to seat 5; the motion was seconded and passed by roll call (Williams, Preston and Ronan voted Aye). LAFCO staff noted Sevier must complete onboarding paperwork before officially serving.
What happens next: Sevier will complete onboarding and is expected to attend future LAFCO meetings after paperwork is finalized.
