LAFCO approves minutes, CALAFCO dues update and a meeting schedule change

San Francisco — The Local Agency Formation Commission handled several routine actions on Sept. 20, approving minutes and taking three administrative items without objection.
The commission approved the minutes from its July 19, 2019 meeting after a motion by Chair Sandra Lee Feuer that was seconded and carried without objection.
On Item 5, staff recommended supporting the California Association of Local Agency Formation Commissions' new dues structure. Executive Officer Brian Goble noted CalAFCo faces structural deficits and recommended approval; the commission voted to support the new dues structure but, citing a Unite Here boycott of the Hyatt Regency conference hotel, agreed not to send delegates to the conference. Goble said the agency would seek a refund for paid registrations.
The commission also approved an amendment to the 2019 meeting schedule so remaining 2019 meetings (Oct. 18 and Nov. 15) will begin at 10 a.m., and staff said the 2020 meeting schedule will be proposed to start at 10 a.m. A final procedural motion to adjourn placed the next meeting at 10 a.m. on Oct. 18.
