The San Francisco Local Agency Formation Commission on March 16 appointed Shanti Singh to the public alternate seat and delayed action on its fiscal 2018–19 budget while staff prepares a fuller proposal. The commission also received a regulatory update on Clean Power SF and agreed to hold informational hearings next month on hospital community benefits and public broadband.
Chair Sandra Lee Feuer called for the appointment of Shanti Singh to the alternate public seat and Commissioner Hillary Ronan moved the nomination; Commissioner Cynthia Pollack seconded. The measure passed without objection. Singh, a San Francisco tenant and housing advocate who identified herself as the development and communications coordinator for Tenants Together and a co‑founder of Yes to Affordable Housing, told commissioners she would bring an ‘‘intersectional’’ approach to LAFCO, drawing on relationships with tenant and environmental justice groups.
