LAFCO honors three outgoing commissioners and approves proclamations

Jason Fried, LAFCO executive officer, read the proclamations and recounted each commissioner’s service: Chair John Avalos (vice chair in 2012, chair 2013–2016), Commissioner David Campos (vice chair in 2010, chair 2011–2012) and Commissioner Eric Marr (noted for serving in multiple seats). Fried credited the commissioners with helping to bring Clean Power SF to launch and with years of service across LAFCO topics including waste management and elections oversight.
Commissioners and elected officials offered personal remarks. Commissioner Marr described LAFCO as "geeky behind the scenes stuff" and thanked colleagues for mentorship. Commissioner Maher recalled activist roots and the coalition work behind Clean Power SF. Commissioner David Campos reflected on his tenure and stressed the importance of new members continuing LAFCO’s work. Chair John Avalos expressed gratitude to colleagues and staff, and noted the broader policy connections between LAFCO work and city climate efforts.
Juliet Ellis, assistant general manager for external affairs at the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, thanked LAFCO for its partnership and said Clean Power SF enrollment had reached about 77,000 customers. Multiple community advocates, including Jed Holtzman and Eric Brooks, offered public thanks and urged continued support for the program. The commission approved the three resolutions without objection and scheduled a brief reception after adjournment.
Formal action: the resolutions honoring Commissioners Avalos, Campos and Marr were approved by motion and adopted without objection. The meeting then proceeded to an executive officer report, additional public comment and adjournment.
