LAFCO approves minutes and confirms leadership; Avalos continues as chair, Cynthia Cruz named vice chair

At the start of the meeting LAFCO approved the minutes from the Dec. 12, 2014 regular meeting and the Jan. 30, 2015 joint special meeting with the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission. Supervisor Marr moved to approve the minutes and Commissioner Cynthia Cruz seconded; the commission took the action without objection after no public comment.
Commissioner Campos nominated John Avalos to continue serving as chair, citing his leadership on community choice efforts. The nomination was seconded by Commissioner Marr and opened for public comment; no member of the public spoke regarding the chair nomination. Chair Avalos also nominated Cynthia Cruz for vice chair; Cruz accepted and described her engagement with LAFCO and Clean Power SF over the past nine months. The commission moved to excuse Avalos and Cruz from voting on their respective appointments and approved the recusals without objection. Commissioners congratulated the newly confirmed leadership.
The meeting proceeded to substantive agenda items once the leadership actions were completed.
