LAFCO moved and approved a one‑year extension of consultant contracts for Local Power and Navigant to continue work on the community choice aggregation RFP and related tasks.
Nancy Miller, LAFCO executive officer, said both contracts would be extended for the next fiscal year "to allow us to have their abilities to work with us on the RFP" and that no budget augmentation was being requested because existing funds remained available. Miller said the consultants are paid only for services performed.
During public comment Eric Brooks urged that the contractors help rewrite the RFP and that the process include stronger mandatory local hiring language. The commission then took a motion to approve the extension; the motion was made, seconded by Commissioner Bornstein and accepted "without objection," and the item moved forward as approved.
