The commission took action on LAFCO’s fiscal planning and staffing contracts, approving the proposed FY2010–11 budget and authorizing a renewal of the legal‑services contract for interim executive officer Nancy Miller.
Jason Fried, LAFCO staff, presented the draft budget and said it closely matched the current year’s allocation and relies on reserves so that the commission need not accept additional general fund allocations for the coming fiscal year. Fried noted staff recommended including language reserving the city allocation for future years even if not used in 2010–11.
Commissioners took the budget item without objection by consent.
Fried also presented a proposed renewal of Nancy Miller’s contract. He said the total request had been lowered from a previous memo and that the recommended renewal totaled $80,000 for the next year, with about $30,000 for non‑CCA items and $50,000 billed to the CCA account. Fried described the reduction as partly enabled by adding staff that will assume some work previously performed by outside counsel.
The commission consented to the contract renewal; staff will proceed with executing the amendment and filing contract records with the clerk’s office.
Next steps: staff will finalize budget documentation and execute the contract amendment for Nancy Miller, with record filings to follow.
