Commission approves a slate of entertainment permits and elects officers

- Schroeder’s (parklet amplified sound) — an amendment to allow outdoor amplified sound in the parklet (11:30 a.m.–9 p.m.) was approved; staff reported no opposition.
- Beacon Grand Hotel (former Sir Francis Drake) — the hotel’s applications to activate Starlight Room and other event spaces with DJs or bands were approved after staff outreach and five letters of support.
- Donahue (Oaxacan restaurant at 3161 20th/4th Street) — an LLP to host small bands and DJs with daily outdoor restrictions and a set sound limit was approved; the owners emphasized Latino cultural programming.
- Function (1414 Market) — a limited live-performance permit for a new comedy club (capacity 49; mic amplification only; max 92 dB) was approved.
Commissioners also held internal elections. A vice-presidential nomination was made for Sin Wong (unable to attend) and Ben Blyman was nominated and approved as president; votes were recorded as unanimous by members present.
Most approvals included standard staff recommendations: adherence to sound limits set by senior inspectors, neighborhood outreach, and calendar-notification conditions in cases where special events were expected. For several items staff emphasized follow-up sound testing and coordination with SFPD stations for enforcement and event notice distribution.
The meeting concluded with commissioner announcements about SFPD active-shooter training availability and plans for overdose-awareness events in August; the commission adjourned at 7:31 p.m.
