The commission approved a consent‑calendar amendment to add outdoor amplified sound to an LLP for 1414 Market Street after staff explained the omission had been an administrative error and said neighbors had been notified with no opposition reported. The consent action passed with the full commission voting aye.
The commission next approved an Extended Hours Premises permit for Big Baobab at 2243 Mission Street, allowing the venue to serve food and host entertainment until 4 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and on specified holiday eve nights. Owner Marco described the application as a continuation of the venue’s existing programming and said the owners had conducted neighborhood outreach and received no opposition. The commission voted to approve the permit with staff recommendations.
The commission approved a Fixed Place Amplified Sound permit for Lokma at 1801 Clement Street, which will allow prerecorded ambient music for sidewalk dining and parklet dining during expanded hours (Monday–Wednesday 4 p.m.–10 p.m.; Thursday–Sunday 9 a.m.–10 p.m., up to eight hours daily). Staff noted five letters of support and two letters of opposition and told the commission that inspectors had no 2024 311 sound complaints for Lokma; commissioners approved the permit with staff recommendations.
A Limited Live Performance permit for Datcha (Datcha Kitchen and Bar) at 1085 Sutter Street, seeking indoor entertainment and outdoor amplified sound within the hours proposed in staff materials, was also approved after the owners described outreach and neighborhood support and staff noted one letter of support and standard SFPD conditions.
All motions to approve were seconded and passed on recorded ayes by the commission.
What happens next: Each approved permit is subject to the commission’s standard conditions and field enforcement by inspectors; neighbors were told that 311 remains the primary channel to report violations for timely inspection. The commission’s actions put the named venues under the Entertainment Commission’s jurisdiction for permit compliance and enforcement going forward.
