Owner Dave Compatante described the venue as open seven days a week with breakfast, lunch and dinner service and evening entertainment on Thursday through Sunday; the group said they are renovating a downstairs level to be accessible to the public. “This is gonna be my third bar club that I'm opening up,” Compatante said, adding he’s worked in nightlife for years and intends to integrate the food and music programs.
Staff said the applicants mailed outreach notices to surrounding neighbors and reported no opposition. The Police Department’s Central Station recommended the commission’s standard calendaring condition. During questioning, the applicants said they planned to keep doors closed during entertainment and implement sound-mitigation practices; they noted nearby neighbors and some local VA clients had expressed support while construction was underway.
The commission moved and seconded approval with staff recommendations and recorded unanimous aye votes from the commissioners present. The commission directed the applicants to follow up with staff for permit finalization and compliance instructions.
The approval allows the venue to serve food and host entertainment until 4 a.m. on the requested days and for the nights before the specified federal holidays listed in the staff recommendations, subject to the conditions recorded in the staff memo.
Next steps: the applicants will complete staff follow-up and final permit processing with the commission’s office and comply with any calendaring or operational conditions imposed by the Police Department.
