Entertainment Commission approves Nightingale, Parkside and Midway permit changes; Parkside conditions revised

At a regular meeting the San Francisco Entertainment Commission approved three place‑of‑entertainment actions: a new permit for Nightingale (239 Kearny), a minor amendment to Parkside’s POE to allow outdoor speakers with modified conditions, and a formality for the Midway to include outdoor entertainment until 10 p.m.

Deputy Director Azevedo introduced Nightingale’s application, noting neighborhood outreach that included Supervisor Peskin’s office and four community groups; owner Bridal Sheehy described plans for jazz trios and occasional DJs between about 9 p.m. and midnight. During deliberation a commissioner moved to approve the permit with the commission’s Good Neighbor Policy and the motion passed unanimously.

Parkside sought to add outdoor speakers on its patio and staff recommended a specific outdoor sound limit (79 dBA) because the nearest sensitive receptor sits about 115 feet away, closer than the code’s standard. Commissioners raised enforceability concerns about Southern Station’s recommended condition wording (notably the ambiguous term “sufficient”) and ultimately approved the amendment while striking Southern Station’s first recommended condition and retaining the other two staff‑recommended conditions.

The Midway’s amendment to include outdoor entertainment until 10 p.m. was described by staff as a formality because the venue had already obtained single‑event approvals for outdoor use; there was no opposition and the commission approved the amendment with no added conditions.
