The DPA urged approval, citing safety concerns during storms and the need for a stable, centralized operations location. Commissioners noted the project is already budgeted in GPA’s CIP (with about $5 million recorded for FY25), discussed co‑location and redundancy with other control centers, and agreed that the current T&D buildings are unsafe in severe weather.
The commission moved, seconded and voted ‘aye’ on the invitation to bid; the motion passed unanimously.
