Director: State tier change lets San Francisco reopen limited indoor dining and expand outdoor activities

Executive Director Weiland told the San Francisco Entertainment Commission that the state moved the city to a less-restrictive COVID tier, allowing certain entertainment and dining activities to resume as long as required safety protocols are followed.
Weiland said indoor dining may resume at 25% capacity with a limit of four people per table and one household per table. Outdoor business activities can operate with no fixed capacity limits, but table-size and household limits apply (the director noted updated household and table-size rules for outdoor settings).
Staff provided jam-permit program metrics: 222 applications received since the program began, 151 active approved permits, 16 permits under review and 55 closed or withdrawn. Weiland said staff will update the commission's permit tracking page and the Entertainment Commission's channels with any health-order directives affecting entertainment activity.
Weiland also said the commission's planned retreat is being postponed while staff gauge federal funding flows (including SVOG and PPP) so they can better survey permit holders about needs and timing.
