The San Francisco Entertainment Commission on a voice vote approved a place-of-entertainment and extended-hours premises permit for YOLO, the new operator of the former Slims nightclub at 333 Eleventh Street.
Deputy Director Azavito told commissioners the new owners, Michael Hu and Peter Lin of PMP Group Inc., requested the same extended-hours parameters SLIMS had, including the option to allow entertainment until 6 a.m., though the applicants said they expect to use the extended window infrequently and typically plan events that end by 2 a.m. The staff recommendation—approval with the Good Neighbor Policy and Southern Station conditions—was accepted with a friendly amendment to add notification of "after-hours activations" to Southern Station, the events supervisor and the Entertainment Commission for situational awareness.
The owners described plans to operate primarily Friday and Saturday nights, offering DJs and dancing and limiting remodel work to cosmetic changes. They said they conducted neighborhood outreach consistent with current pandemic constraints (dropping off letters and introducing themselves to adjacent businesses), have existing soundproofing in the building and maintain security logs and incident reporting procedures.
Commissioners pressed the applicants to expand outreach to residential neighbors where applicable and to make a clear contact and response timeline available for complaints. Michael Hu said applicants would respond to complaints within 24 to 48 hours and maintain a security log documenting incidents and responses.
Commissioner Falzon moved to approve the permit with the conditions and the amendment; Commissioner Lee seconded. The chair announced the motion passed and invited the applicants to follow up with staff on next steps and neighborhood outreach.
The vote followed the Entertainment Commission's standard permitting procedure: approval with the Good Neighbor Policy and the Southern Station conditions (management of outside promoters and notification of special events and after-hours activations). Staff noted Southern Station had reviewed the application and recommended standard mitigation measures.
The commission advised the owners to prioritize proactive outreach to neighbors and maintain real-time communication channels to address potential noise, queuing or egress issues when events occur. The applicants were instructed to coordinate closely with the Entertainment Commission staff on remaining permits and compliance steps.
