Commission approves consent agenda, minutes and adopts mission, vision and values

The San Francisco Entertainment Commission approved procedural business and adopted a mission, vision and values statement for publication.

Early in the meeting the commission voted to approve minutes from its Nov. 5, 2019 meeting after a motion and second; the roll‑call recorded Aye votes from Commissioner Perez, President Blayman, Commissioner Lee and Commissioner Falzon. Later the commission approved the consent agenda — two limited‑life performance permits for accessory use — as a single item with staff conditions after a motion by Commissioner Perez and a second; recorded Aye votes included Commissioner Press, Commissioner Thomas, President Blayman, Commissioner Lee and Commissioner Falzon.

On a separate vote, commissioners accepted a proposed mission, vision and value statement developed from a commission retreat. The draft states the commission “supports a thriving entertainment and nightlife culture that balances the needs of the city's entertainment community, its audiences, and its neighbors across all district neighborhoods.” The vision says San Francisco’s entertainment community “is world class, diverse, equitable, robust, responsible, and inclusive.” The values include transparency, communication and a sense of belonging. The motion to adopt the draft carried on a recorded vote with Aye votes from Commissioners Perez, Thomas, President Blayman, Commissioner Lee and Commissioner Falzon.

Commissioners and staff emphasized continued collaboration with venues and neighborhood outreach as issues arise.
