The San Francisco Entertainment Commission on Nov. 5 approved a change-of-ownership Place of Entertainment permit for Momo's, 760 Second Street, allowing the new owners to continue indoor entertainment until 2 a.m. and to use an outdoor speaker for music on San Francisco Giants game days until 10 p.m.
Deputy Director Azevedo said the previous owner had held a POE permit since 1999 with no known sound complaints under the commission's jurisdiction since 2003. New owner Scott Morton, who said he and his wife took ownership effective Oct. 1, told commissioners he plans to continue existing programming and described outreach to nearby complexes including Paragon Apartments.
When a commissioner questioned the neighborhood outreach listed on the application, Morton said he left flyers and his business card with building managers at nearby apartment complexes and planned intake meetings to work through conditions. He said the venue will control volume with wall-mounted or remotely adjustable speakers and provide a direct contact for neighbors to report concerns.
The commission moved to approve the permit with staff recommendations and the good neighbor policy; the motion passed on a recorded unanimous vote (ayes recorded; two commissioners excused). The chair congratulated the applicant and asked Morton to follow up with deputy director staff.
Votes at a glance: The commission also approved minutes for Oct. 15 and Oct. 18, 2019, and the consent agenda (two billiard-parlor accessory permits) during the meeting; those items were recorded as approved on the meeting record with ayes from the commissioners present and two excused absences.
