SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco Entertainment Commission approved the minutes from its Aug. 20, 2019 meeting and unanimously passed two accessory-use permits on the consent agenda at its Wednesday meeting.
A motion to approve the Aug. 20 minutes was made and seconded and passed on recorded 'aye' votes from Commissioner Thomas, Vice President Camino, President Bridal, Commissioner Falzon and Commissioner Lee. Deputy Director Azavito introduced two accessory-use permits on the consent agenda; commissioners voted to approve them after staff said both had strong public support and no recorded opposition.
Commissioners closed the meeting in memory of Jamie (Jimbo) Duran, the bass player of Native Elements. President Ben Blyman congratulated Vice President Camino on being reappointed and raised concerns about the local small-business climate after three cultural institutions near the ballpark—Pedro’s Cantina, Pete’s Tavern and Amicis—abruptly closed this week. "I think it's an indication of the state of small business in the city right now," Blyman said.
Blyman also told the commission the state’s proposed 4 a.m. bill, which had been amended to a 3 a.m. proposal, failed to pass out of the Assembly this week. He said he expects the measure to return in future legislative sessions.
The meeting closed at 6:01 p.m.
