Commission reviews outdoor events guide and cannabis bulletin; approves two limited live performance permits

Dylan Rice, senior analyst for Community and Cultural Events, reported to the Entertainment Commission on March 20 that user testing of the outdoor events planning and permitting guide yielded strong, favorable feedback from event producers and operators. Rice said testing participants — including representatives from Carnival, Hush Concerts, SF Street Food Festival and others — found the draft guide valuable and suggested both clarifications and future online tools to help producers identify required permits and timelines.
Rice also said he drafted an informational cannabis bulletin for outdoor events to clarify rules on consumption, sales and advertising and that staff will coordinate with the Office of Cannabis before sending the bulletin to event producers in the coming weeks.
Separately, under the consent calendar the commission approved two limited live performance permits: one for Hole in the Wall Pizza (Irving) and one for Laughing Monk Brewing (Bayview). Staff reported no negative neighbor feedback and no objections from the police department; commissioners congratulated the venues after the votes.
The commission did not take further action on the guide at this meeting aside from the reported progress and the expected April release timeline.
