However, I object to the procedure because nobody knew about this until yesterday," he said. Jamestown representatives told the commission they had contacted nearby Fontana Towers, internal tenants including Ghirardelli Chocolate and the Fairmont hotel, and several retail tenants; they also said they maintain a 24‑hour security phone and will perform sound testing and provide event calendars when requested.
Commissioners pressed for concrete outreach steps. The final approval included conditions offered and accepted on the record: a sound‑test condition to ensure compliance with outdoor amplified‑sound limits, and a friendly amendment requiring Jamestown to provide a monthly calendar of events to neighbors, Entertainment Commission staff and SFPD. The motion to approve passed unanimously.
Staff had reported no police objections and said the permit had received support in the application file. The commission asked staff to work with Jamestown on posting and notification locations to ensure building residents receive timely notice in the future.
