The Entertainment Commission adopted findings on Dec. 5 that an agent or employee of La Officina engaged in conduct that would constitute violations of the police code and that the permittee failed to comply with required security protocols. The commission imposed a 30‑day suspension, effective as of the date the findings were issued.
Director Wyland summarized the City Attorney‑draft findings, which cite Inspector Burke's inspections and identify breaches of required security procedures and instances of conduct by an employee/security agent that could amount to assault, weapons violations and other criminal conduct. "The entertainment commission found that the permittee...failed to comply with their revised security plan as required by section 10 60.32 of the police code," Wyland said.
La Officina's representative told the commission the updated findings addressed prior objections and said the venue has not operated under its entertainment license while the matter was pending. Several public commenters and District 11 Supervisor Asha Safai's office supported the maximum penalty the commission could impose, a 30‑day suspension, citing neighborhood safety concerns. A community member said the suspension was necessary after violent incidents and argued the regulator should act decisively to deter further harm.
The commission voted to adopt the findings as drafted by the City Attorney and to begin the 30‑day suspension immediately, while staff confirmed the administrative steps to issue formal written notices and handle appeals procedures.
