At its August meeting, the San Francisco Entertainment Commission disposed of routine business and several consent items.
The commission unanimously approved the July 18 meeting minutes. On the consent agenda, the commission approved an LLP application for Noise (a record store at 3427 Balboa Street) after staff reported strong neighborhood support and no protests; Chelsea Boylard, legislative aide to Supervisor Sandra Feuer, spoke in support of the applicant.
An item (Permit 251) was continued because of a last-minute planning-department issue. The commission also considered standard recommendations for another residential infill project at 606 Capp Street (20 units); after the project sponsor described outreach and Salter Associates’ sound-readings, commissioners voted to forward the standard conditions to Planning and DBI.
Commissioners received staff updates about implementing new outdoor amplified-sound permit categories and an internal standard operating procedures manual for the office while the agency transitions leadership. Speaker 3 reported progress on re-posting and vetting candidates for a new executive director, with interviews scheduled for Sept. 7.
The meeting closed with a discussion of a police presentation about a reported uptick in assaults in a police district; commissioners requested clearer data from Police before drawing conclusions and offered industry assistance for mitigation and data-sharing.
