On April 4 the San Francisco Entertainment Commission voted to recommend that the Board of Supervisors adopt an ordinance amending the police code to clarify permitting language and improve staff authority for permitting and enforcement.
Director (unnamed) asked the Commission for a motion to forward a recommendation and requested that any substantive changes proposed by the city attorney or other processes be returned to the Commission for review. Commissioner (speaker 10) moved to forward the recommendation; the motion was seconded and commissioners recorded "Aye" votes.
Commissioners said the ordinance would help the office perform permitting functions more effectively and reduce ambiguity in how events and permits are categorized. The Commission asked staff to keep the body informed as the ordinance moves forward and indicated it expects to review substantive revisions if they arise during the Board process.
The recommendation will be transmitted to the Board of Supervisors for consideration by a sponsoring member of the Board; staff will alert the Commission to any substantive edits that require further Commission review.
