Entertainment Commission approves Cha Cha Cha’s limited live-performances permit under new ownership

The San Francisco Entertainment Commission on April 4 approved a change-of-ownership limited live performance permit for Cha Cha Cha, a Mission Street restaurant that plans to host live Cuban bands.
Staff told commissioners they received seven letters of support for the application, including one from Supervisor Ronan, and that Mission Station recommended approval with no additional conditions. New owner Irfan Yalcin told the Commission he plans primarily Sunday afternoon music and has talked with neighbors about the proposal.
Commission discussion was brief. A commissioner moved to approve the permit, a second was recorded and the Commission voted, with Commissioners Caminond, Blayman, Lee and Vice President Thomas recorded as voting "Aye." No letters of protest were reported in the staff packet.
The permit allows Cha Cha Cha flexibility to host live performances that generally end at 10 p.m.; staff said operators requested the ability to hold events roughly four times a month with the ability to add occasional other dates. The Commission did not add extra conditions beyond those recommended by Mission Station.
The Commission closed the hearing after the vote and congratulated the new owner.
