Commission continues Fiddler’s Green ownership permit to next meeting after neighborhood concerns

The Entertainment Commission voted April 19 to continue a decision on a change-of-ownership place-of-entertainment permit for Fiddler’s Green, 1333 Columbus Avenue, to the next meeting.
Prospective owners Vince Lau and Colm Doherty said they plan to preserve the bar’s Irish-music tradition, hire an experienced manager and ensure staff are trained and certified. Commissioners pressed the applicants on neighborhood outreach, an operations manual and the experience of the day-to-day manager.
Dana Shibley, a neighbor who lives behind the bar, told the commission that the venue has at times been "extremely loud, particularly on the weekends," and that her condominium association had not been contacted. Commissioners said they wanted the manager present at the next hearing and more documentation about outreach and soundproofing before deciding.
A motion to continue the application to the next meeting — with a friendly amendment that the applicants provide additional materials on neighbor outreach and soundproofing — passed by roll call.
The continuance requires the applicants to return with the manager on record and documentation of outreach to the adjacent condominium association and planned sound-control measures.
