Commission approves The Pearl venue at Dogpatch with police conditions

The San Francisco Entertainment Commission unanimously approved a place‑of‑entertainment permit for The Pearl, a new restaurant and events venue at 601 Nineteenth Street, after the applicants described noise‑mitigation measures and outreach to nearby residents.
Adam Mendelson, managing partner of The Pearl, told the commission the venue will host weddings, nonprofit and corporate events and will emphasize art programming. Mendelson and partner Kurt Huffman described investments in soundproofing and an operations plan; Mendelson said the project presented letters of support from the Dogpatch Neighborhood Association and a homeowners association.
Officer Ramirez of Bayview Station told the commission Bayview Station reviewed the space and “we’re all for it,” while asking that no extended‑hours premise be granted and recommending use of the city’s good‑neighbor policy. Public commenter Chris Curtis, a small investor in the project, praised the applicant’s outreach and business plan.
Commissioners questioned sound transmission, roof sound use and neighbor outreach; applicants said they had presented to the HOA and received supportive letters. After public comment and police input, the commission voted to approve the permit with police conditions and advised staff and the applicant to continue coordination with the station.
The permit was approved by roll call vote with all present commissioners voting Aye. Staff said they will monitor compliance with the police conditions and encouraged continued communication between the venue and neighbors.
