Commission approves rules updates, continues Great Star Theater permit

The San Francisco Entertainment Commission unanimously approved a clean-draft update to its hearing rules and procedures to reflect changes in the Police Code, after Director Kane explained the changes and staff provided a redline showing edits.
Deputy Director Blackstone said the Great Star Theater permit remains in continuance while staff work with the planning department; the Commission voted to continue the item to the March 3 meeting at the applicant’s request. Inspectors and police provided reports on recent noise complaints, investigations at venues (including the Fillmore and several Broadway clubs), alleyway lighting and recommendations coordinated with the Union Square Business Improvement District.
Commissioners also approved minutes for earlier meetings and heard a memorial announcement for entertainer Eddie 'Cookie Dough' Bell.
