Commission staff to present at March 3 Board hearing on late‑night transportation

The Entertainment Commission on Feb. 4 heard from Executive Director Kane that Supervisor Aaron Wiener’s office is planning a Board of Supervisors land‑use hearing on late‑night transportation for March 3 and has invited the commission to present as one of several agencies.
Kane said she met with Wiener’s staff and expects the hearing to occur at the Land Use Committee in the afternoon; she urged commissioners to hold internal discussions about what the commission might add to the Board presentation and to coordinate with other agencies. "They're looking at March 3 because it'll be at land use... we will be asked, formally, to be part of the presentation at the front end before there's sort of testimony and public comment," Kane said.
Commissioners discussed whether the commission should hold a preparatory hearing with venue owners and stakeholders to collect data and community input. Kane said the Muni survey and related published coverage could inform the presentation but that the shape of the Board hearing was still under discussion by Wiener’s office.
The commission asked staff to stay in close contact with Wiener’s office, to consider a pre‑hearing internal discussion with venue owners and affected stakeholders, and to report back with a proposed presentation plan and list of invitees ahead of March 3.
