Commission approves Hotel Adagio entertainment permit with police-recommended conditions

The Entertainment Commission voted Nov. 19 to grant a place-of-entertainment permit to Hotel Adagio, 550 Geary St., authorizing live music and DJs for private events in three meeting rooms, subject to police-recommended conditions.
Michael Pace, the hotel's general manager, said the hotel completed outreach with nearby hotels and neighborhood groups and submitted letters of support. He described the hotel as a 171-room property that recently completed a multimillion-dollar renovation and listed capacities for the three rooms at about 70–80 people each and up to roughly 200 combined for larger events.
Officer Steve Mathias of Central Station told the commission the station supports the permit provided the hotel adheres to the entertainment good-neighbor policy, that staff be trained (LEADS or TIPS), and that Central Station be notified of larger events (New Year's Eve, Saint Patrick's Day–type events) for situational awareness.
Public commenters including Gerald Banks and Kevin Carroll (Executive Director, Hotel Council of San Francisco) expressed support, noting the hotel's community involvement and due diligence. After discussion, a motion to approve the permit with the police conditions was made, seconded and approved by the commissioners.
The approval carries the police conditions identified in the staff packet. Staff and Central Station will maintain contact about larger events and continue enforcement if complaints arise.
