Neighbors urge faster fixes at Baobab; owner promises more soundproofing and cooperation

Several residents, including Karla Felix and Sibeli Moreira, described persistent late-night noise that interfered with sleep and study. Owner Marco Senghor, who said he has operated on Nineteenth Street for 14 years, said he has installed double glazing, large curtains and other measures, and said he is bringing in new management and considering additional soundproofing investments. Senghor said he wants to work with neighbors and the commission to resolve remaining problems.
Inspector Grinelli reported measurable reductions in outdoor DBA values but said readings taken outside do not fully capture interior residential impact; he recommended conducting in-residence sound checks at times residents identify as problematic, and the commission agreed to coordinate those checks and revisit the item as necessary. Staff noted that nearby Beauty Bar likely contributes to neighborhood noise and suggested opening an investigation into that venue as well.
