Commission allows Sycamore to host occasional unamplified outdoor performances with time limits

The Entertainment Commission voted to amend Sycamore’s limited-live permit to allow occasional outdoor, non-amplified entertainment on the venue’s small back patio, subject to conditions intended to protect neighbors.
Liz Ryan, co-owner, said the patio performances would be limited to acoustic acts (quiz nights, bingo, occasional bluegrass) and that speakers previously found on the patio were removed. Ryan said the business provides a listed phone line and cell numbers so neighbors can contact staff immediately; she added the venue will stop performances if neighbors complain.
SFPD recommended restricting patio performances to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday; the commission adopted that recommendation and included a prohibition on amplified sound on the patio. Commissioners asked that the venue make the good-neighbor contact available to nearby residents.
The motion to approve the amendment passed unanimously.
