The Entertainment Commission granted a limited live-performance permit to Elizabeth Vasquez for Tio Chilos Grill, a family-run restaurant seeking occasional live music.
At the Aug. 8 hearing Vasquez said she has run the restaurant for 11 years and collected neighborhood support for the application. Mission Station Officer Gary Buckner told the commission he had “no objection to the issuance of this permit” so long as the venue continues to operate in accordance with its ABC license and remains a restaurant rather than a bar. Buckner warned that reducing food service or allowing underage entry while promoting entertainment could violate the ABC permit and jeopardize the LLP.
Commissioners asked about neighborhood outreach and received confirmation that Vasquez had circulated a petition and notified neighbors; no public comment opposed the application. A motion to approve the permit, with the commission’s Good Neighbor policy and police conditions, was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote. The chair wished the applicant luck and closed the item.
