Applicant Mike Leon said he and his partner had invested in extensive soundproofing and sought the permit to host DJs, live bands and cabaret. "We have put in a tremendous amount of work and we have considered our neighbors and the whole community," Leon said. Southern Station recommended 16 conditions to the permit (on file with the commission) including security staffing, a venue calendar and use of identification‑reader technology to assist investigations when necessary. Southern Station’s representative said it had no objection to granting the permit provided the conditions were met.
Public comment included neighborhood residents who reported a successful soft opening and community advocates who argued the venue’s reopening would benefit nightlife and nearby businesses. Supervisor Mark Weiner (speaking for District 8) told the commission the Eagle’s reopening was important to protect night venues at risk of disappearing.
Commissioners moved and seconded approval and recorded a roll call of ayes; the permit was granted with the police‑recommended conditions attached. The commission noted the applicant’s agreement to the conditions and wished the owners luck as they reopen.
