The San Francisco Entertainment Commission on Tuesday approved an extended-hours permit for Taqueria Guadalajara, at 4798 Mission Street, allowing service past 2 a.m. under police-recommended conditions.
Applicant Pablo Patino told commissioners his family-owned fast-food restaurant in the Outer Mission serves tacos, burritos and nachos and asked to operate into the 3 a.m. hour on select nights. "I can hire a security guard with a license to operate after midnight," Patino said, adding the business would not play music and would focus on food service only.
Officer William McCarthy of SFPD's Ingleside Station reviewed a year-to-date and 10-month crime summary for the area, citing counts including thefts, vehicle thefts, assaults and DUIs, and recommended approval only with the 11 police conditions attached to the packet. "Based on those stats, I'm respectfully requesting that you approve the conditions that are before you," McCarthy said.
Commissioners debated condition number 11, with the chair noting the commission has sole authority to grant or revoke permits and proposing that condition be removed. A commissioner moved to approve the permit while striking condition 11; the motion was seconded and carried by recorded Aye votes from the commissioners on the dais.
The commission closed public comment with no speakers on the item and directed that the approved permit include the finalized police conditions and posted hours. The permit will remain subject to suspension or revocation for future violations.
